Excitement was building. Unfortunately, I made the mistake of telling Jordan and Alexandra what day and time we intended to leave home. My son woke up at 3 a.m. on Wednesday ready to go to the airport. From then on, both children constantly asked, “How long before we go to France, Mama?”
I was so glad when it was finally time to go to the airport. Our 16-year-old family friend Janel is traveling with us this summer, so she met us at airport before the flight. She was the model of coolness. Yeah, right!!!!! You could tell she was excited.
The flight was booked for late evening (7:05pm). I had high hopes that my children were going to be asleep by 9pm. No such luck!!! The flight was delayed for two hours. By 11:45pm, everyone was exhausted, but still awake. They eventually went to sleep, but not for long……lol. Because of the delay, we almost missed our connecting flight from Frankfurt, Germany to Paris. We were a wild bunch running through the airport to make our connection. Well…I got my exercise for the day! I forgot to mention that the idea of packing “light” eludes me. Picture me with a backpack and two rolling bags, half carrying and dragging Alex through the Frankfurt airport to catch our flight!!!!!!
By the time we landed in Charles De Gaulle, my babies could barely keep their eyes open. Hence, the pictures of them sleeping in the car service… It’s a good thing that this is an extended vacation. We all need a day or two to recuperate from jet lag.
